Does anyone know of a museum that has old machines in it, such as a 100 year old metal working lathe ?
I have an old working metal lathe, made around 100 years ago and wondered if some collector or museum might want to display it. I live in a rural area, but I wondered if somewhere there is a museum or technical college that would love to show how metal work was done in the early 1900′s.
Does anyone know a place that does metal cutting?
I have a stainless steel pole that I need to take somewhere to be made shorter

Can anyone give me any information about McKee sewing machines?
I’m thinking about buying a sewing machine from an antique shop. It works, so I’m not worried about that. It’s teal and white and looks very old. It’s made of metal and is attached to what looks to be the base of a case, but the top part of the case is no longer there. The label reads MeKee (or MeKee’s) De Luxe. However, I’m having a hard time finding information about it on the internet. Does anyone have any information about the brand? Such as whether it’s a sturdy machine or the years they were made or any tidbit? I would appreciate it!
can anyone tell me more about the pokification project scientist’s are working on in japan?
I received an answer from a yahoo member named tom who told me about the pokification project and I want to learn more about it, like if they succeeded and if they did if it was possible for me to participate in the project.
here is his answer: You don’t have to make a machine, scientists in Japan have been working for years on this process, they’ve named it “Poke’ification”. Unfortunately, all of the test subjects have either died ( due to the extreme conditions of being subjected to containment within a small metal spheroid ) or escaped. It’s been a constant worry across the Japanese media, as not enough Potions are being manufactured ( due to the economic climate ). It’s reached such an extreme point that their government has announced a ban on any form of Poke’mon related exports other than Nintendo related products for the next 3 years, just as a precaution. The actual words “Poke’mon” and “Pocket Monsters” have been banned from all media, resulting in serious punishment to individuals whom don’t abide with these new regulations.
So, yes, you can turn into a poke’mon, but to do so you’ll have to go and figure out time travel. ![]()

Does anyone know the size of the two wire gauges used to set up the old “Burpee Simplex #23″ canning machine?
I have aquired an old “Burpee Simplex Sealer model #23″ home canning machine for putting things up in metal cans. The instruction book is in bad shape but I have been able to restore it enough to be useful. It calls for two wire gauges to make sure the seal rollers and cutter are properly aligned for a safe, water tight seal. The company has not made these machines since the 50′s and there is no where that I know of to get the gauges or learn the sizes, in order to make them myself. Otherwise the machine is in good working order. Just need to set it up right to use it. Thanks
I have aquired an old “Burpee Simplex Sealer model #23″ home canning machine for putting things up in metal cans. This is not the same “Burpee” (burpee.com) that sells seeds, etc. The seed company claims no knowledge of the canning machine company. The company, which was located in Barrington, IL was sold in 1956 to another company which no longer has any parts or information concerning the can sealer. They dropped the can sealer (and Burpee name) from their product line decades ago and are unable to help.
